GHANA: THE EXOTIC COAST OF AFRICA

Ghana is a country in West Africa, spreading along the gulf of guinea a few degrees north of the equator. She lies in the ce ntre of the West African coast sharing borders with Burkina Faso in the north, Cote d’ivoire to the west, Togo to the east and the Atlantic Ocean to the south.

Ghana has a total area of 238,533 square kilometers, which is about the size of the United Kingdom. The Greenwich meridian which passes through London also crosses over the eastern part of Ghana of Tema. Widely known for the hospitality and friendliness of the natives, Ghana is an obvious priority especially to first time travelers to Africa. Ghana is also one of the few English speaking countries in West Africa. 

Although Ghana is not a safari destination, there are plenty of opportunities to experience nature and wildlife. Among the many parks and beaches around the country, the city of Cape Coast offer visitors the chance to trek over a swinging canopy bridge suspended high over the trees of Kakaum national park.

The city of Accra has been Ghana’s capital since 1877 and contains public buildings that showcase the profound modernization of the city. The city extending along the Atlantic coast is well endowed with luxurious hotels and nightclubs like the Labadi Beach Hotel and the La Palm Beach Hotel.

Ghana also houses some exotic beaches where you can spot local artisans, fishermen, drummers that will give you the pop of culture. You can also find art, beads, pottery, weaved clothing and carvings

Ghana is endowed with diverse natural attractions, historical heritage and exquisite culture. If you are going from Nigeria, it is only about 2 hours, there is no jet lag plus it is an affordable winter destination for tourists who yearn for the sun, sand and rich cultural experience.
